Cancer Mission Day 2025

Cancer is a global societal challenge. To address it, we need to create better conditions for implementing new knowledge, new methods, and interventions. We need to think innovatively and adopt a holistic perspective on health. We need to collaborate in new ways between healthcare, business, and civil society.

Cancer Mission Day

– a day dedicated to the future of cancer care

A mission-oriented approach contributed to system change. Cancer Mission Day was a day dedicated to exploring the implementation of an updated cancer strategy through innovative collaborations aimed at developing and strengthening cancer prevention, treatment, and quality of life.

Cancer Mission Day brought together leading stakeholders from healthcare, research, politics, industry, and civil society to jointly drive the implementation of the updated Swedish cancer strategy in line with the EU's Cancer Mission. Throughout the day, participants explored how collaboration, innovation, and systemic transformation could contribute to preventing cancer, enabling early detection, improving treatments, and enhancing the quality of life for all patients. From precision medicine and equitable data-driven care to childhood cancer, person-centered approaches, and sustainability – Cancer Mission Day marked a starting point for tangible change and global leadership in cancer care.

A mix of seminars, workshops, presentations, and networking was organized by a large number of stakeholders and coordinated by the innovation ecosystem Vision Zero Cancer/Testbed Sweden Precision Health Cancer. Cancer Mission Day took place in Almedalen, Visby, on June 26th, 2025.
