A future with reduced risk of disease and ill health
There is now a broad consensus that we need to focus more on preventing and delaying disease and ill health. Preventing the occurrence of disease and ill health has many advantages both at the societal level and for the individual. Prevention contributes to a future with reduced risk of cancer.
A large proportion of the total disease burden in Sweden today is caused by unhealthy lifestyle habits. New research shows that 45 percent of all dementia diseases, 80 percent of all cardiovascular disease, and 30 percent of all cancer can be prevented through improved lifestyle habits. But what do these lifestyle improvements consist of? How can those who need interventions be reached effectively? How do we create a future with reduced risk of cancer?
